Episode 33: Francisca Bauza of C’an Bernat, Deia’s Local Grocer

 

In this episode, Tara speaks to the wonderful, high energy and extremely endearing woman, who is an integral part of the Deia community, Francisca Bauza. In their talk we learn that C’an Bernat has been an essential part of village life in Deia for over one hundred years. Francisca talks about a life of growing up in the shop, the work and effort it takes to provide the community with goods. She gives us her take on tourism and how the village has changed. Francisca is a model of the Mallorcan work ethic and she reminds us that in the Mallorcan home, family and community are always the top priority.
